Having the great exhaust debate here
Thinking about going with 4" catback into either spintech or flowmaster instead of the duals route, but I am really wondering what it is going to sound like or if it is going to be that much more restrictive than 3" duals.
The math puts 3" duals at 14.13 total area compared to 12.56 on the 4" single.
Think I may check with Andy down at redline and see what he thinks
Thoughts? _________________ '88 Formula

Personally, I think you have enough ground clearance to run a semi exhaust under that thing! But for me, i'd rather run the 4" pipe in the stock location to save clearance for when the spring fairy comes along and blesses your car with a "race car" low stance. But thats just me... _________________

I've had about every exhaust setup imaginable on my GTA. For the past couple years it has had a custom mandrel bent 3" y-pipe (made by me) into a dual 3"/single 4" flowmaster Y collector... then a 4" mufflex system with a single in/out 4" flowmaster race series muffler. I've also got a single 4" cutout under the car for at the track. I'm going to hotlap the car next year and see if I pick up any power/ET/mph with the cutout open.
This setup supports more than enough power... my car has put down almost 650RWHP on the bottle with this setup. _________________

I am leaning that way
My wife wants 3" true duals with dynomax bullets again, go figure. At least she appriciates loud and obnoxious
I just don't know if I want it THAT loud again _________________ '88 Formula

You want loud, go the Spintech route... I had one and sold it because it rattled my brain! _________________ BorgX - (James) - Team3rdGen Webmaster

Always liked the way the spintechs sounded. But I really miss the way my aerochamber sounded _________________ 08 Cobalt Sport Coupe (eh its slow as hell...)

I will be putting a Mufflex 3.5" with a Spintech in a couple weeks on my 85. I should be able to let you know then. _________________ -David-

I have long tube headers, connected with my own specially welded up a 3" y-pipe all the way back into a 1 in/2 out dual 3" "Hooker" system. I personally could not have asked for a better tone. Throaty, fun, noticable, but not abnoxious. This is on my built 305 tpi. "Give the meaning to muscle car" _________________ '89 T/A
